Govt allocates Rs 19,326 crore for MoPNG, Rs 250 crore for biofuel infrastructure, ET EnergyWorld


New Delhi: The Union Budget 2025 allocated ₹19,326 crore to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), an increase of 11.28 per cent from the revised estimates of ₹17,367 crore last year, according to budget documents. The allocation for the next fiscal is 21.31 per cent higher than the previous year’s budget estimates of ₹15,930 crore.

The government has proposed to spend ₹250 crore under the scheme for the development of pipeline infrastructure for injecting compressed bio-gas (CBG) into the city gas distribution (CGD) network. The scheme was allocated ₹497 crore in the current fiscal, but revised estimates have brought it down to ₹30 crore.

The scheme for financial support for biomass collection has a revised allocation of ₹20 crore this fiscal, down from the original ₹150 crore. The allocation for the next fiscal is ₹150 crore.

The Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana, aimed at promoting biofuel, has been allocated ₹117 crore for the next fiscal. The budgetary estimates for the current fiscal were the same, but the revised estimate for this year is ₹30 crore.

The government has allocated ₹12,100 crore for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) subsidy to oil marketing companies (OMCs). The revised estimate for the previous fiscal was ₹14,700 crore.
