New Delhi: Union minister of power and housing & urban affairs Manohar Lal visited the 45 MW NHPC Nimoo Bazgo Power Station in Leh district, Ladakh to review its operations and assess renewable energy initiatives in the region.
Accompanied by NHPC CMD R.K. Chaudhary, the minister examined various aspects of the power station’s operations and its contribution to Ladakh’s energy infrastructure. The facility, developed by NHPC, utilizes the Indus River to generate clean and reliable energy for the region.
During the visit, officials briefed the minister on the station’s role in ensuring energy supply and its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at benefiting the local population.
Union minister commended the dedication and hard work of the NHPC team in maintaining and operating the power station in such challenging conditions. He further emphasized the government’s focus on renewable energy and environmental sustainability. He encouraged the NHPC team to continue their efforts in ensuring a stable power supply and exploring new opportunities for green energy in the region.
The Nimoo Bazgo Power Station is a critical component of Ladakh’s energy strategy, supporting the region’s transition to renewable energy and providing stable power supply in challenging geographical conditions.
Senior NHPC officials, including Executive Directors Ram Swaroop and Suprakash Adhikari, as well as Jitendra Kumar, Head of Power Station for Nimoo Bazgo and Chutak, were present during the visit.
