New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, has handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The SPVs—Bidar Transco Limited and Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission Limited—were transferred on February 18, 2025, in Gurugram.
PGCIL has been selected as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for both projects through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL. The projects will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis with an implementation period of 24 months.
The formal transfer took place in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL). T.S.C. Bosh, CEO, RECPDCL, handed over the projects to Pankaj Pandey, Executive Director, PGCIL.
The Bidar Transco Limited project aims to enhance the transformation capacity at the Bidar Pooling Station in Karnataka, ensuring reliable power transmission. Meanwhile, the Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission Limited project will augment transformation capacity at KPS1 and KPS2 substations in Gujarat, facilitating power evacuation from renewable energy generators.
“The implementation of these projects will help strengthen India’s transmission network and improve power evacuation, particularly for renewable energy sources,” a senior official said.
The projects are in line with the government’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the national power grid, ensuring seamless integration of renewable energy into the transmission infrastructure.
