Tata Power’s clean energy capacity to reach 16.7 GW, reports 10% YoY PAT growth, ET EnergyWorld


New Delhi: Tata Power’s clean energy capacity is set to reach 16.7 GW with 10 GW of projects under execution, while its operational capacity stood at 6.7 GW as of December 31, 2024, generating over 11,700 million units (MUs) of green power. The company reported its 21st consecutive quarterly profit after tax (PAT) growth, posting ₹1,188 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, marking a 10 per cent year-on-year increase.

Consolidated EBITDA during the quarter rose 7 per cent to ₹3,481 crore. For the nine-month period of FY25, the company recorded revenue of ₹47,174 crore, a 4 per cent increase year-on-year. EBITDA during the period reached an all-time high of ₹10,639 crore, while PAT stood at ₹3,909 crore, reflecting a 30 per cent growth year-on-year.

Tata Power CEO and Managing Director Dr. Praveer Sinha said, “We have delivered a sustained PAT growth trajectory over the last 21 quarters and all our businesses have been contributing to this growth. We have emerged as a clean energy leader with presence across the full value chain of manufacturing, EPC, and development of renewable projects along with retail supply through group captives. As an integrated power company, we offer complete energy services towards our portfolio of generation, transmission and distribution solutions to provide affordable power for all.”

Tata Power’s solar manufacturing arm, TP Solar Limited, secured a ₹455 crore contract to supply 300 MWp ALMM modules to Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited. Tata Power signed an MoU with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $4.25 billion to finance key clean energy projects. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) commissioned a 126 MWp floating solar project in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh, along with a 431 MW DC solar plant in Neemuch. The Neemuch plant is India’s first solar plant to incorporate single-axis trackers and bi-facial modules.

Noida International Airport partnered with Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) to procure 10.8 MW of wind power and with TPREL to develop, operate, and maintain a 13 MW onsite solar power capacity. TPREL signed a 400 MW Hybrid Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) and an MoU with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to accelerate rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Tata Power reached a milestone of approximately 16 lakh smart meter installations across its Discoms in Mumbai, Delhi, and Odisha. The company expanded its EV charging infrastructure through an MoU with Tivolt Electric Vehicles, while Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TPDDL) partnered with Baaz Bikes to set up battery-swapping solutions in the National Capital Region.
