New Delhi: NHPC Limited, India’s leading hydropower company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to advance clean energy solutions, including agrivoltaics, green hydrogen, and sustainable financing.
The agreement, signed on November 28, 2024, at NHPC’s corporate office in Faridabad, aims to address climate challenges and support India’s low-carbon transition.
The MoU was signed by NHPC Executive Director (REGH) V.R. Shrivastava and GGGI Country Head Soumya Prasad Garnaik in the presence of NHPC Director (Personnel) Uttam Lal and GGGI Advisor D.K. Khare. Senior officials from both organizations also attended the signing ceremony.
Under the partnership, NHPC and GGGI will collaborate on integrating renewable energy technologies with agricultural practices through agrivoltaic projects, advancing green hydrogen development, and driving investments in green energy projects. The initiatives align with India’s commitments under the Paris Agreement and NHPC’s renewable energy goals.
NHPC, a Navratna enterprise, operates a diverse portfolio of hydropower, solar, and wind projects. Its partnership with GGGI, an international organization focusing on sustainable economic growth in emerging economies, is expected to develop scalable solutions for climate resilience and green energy adoption.
“This collaboration will help develop innovative projects that align with India’s renewable energy commitments and NHPC’s clean energy objectives,” the ministry of power said.
