New Delhi: Union minister of coal and mines, G. Kishan Reddy, will inaugurate the rooftop solar power system at the Geological Survey of India (GSI) Training Institute in Hyderabad on 12 October, 2024. The minister will lead the switch-on ceremony for the plant and plant saplings in the GSI campus as part of the institute’s green initiatives.
The solar installation, comprising 300 bifacial panels, is expected to generate 500 to 700 units of power per day. This is part of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, launched in February 2024, aimed at fully solarising government buildings across India.
“The installation of this solar power plant will reduce operational costs for the institute, allowing more resources to be allocated towards research and development,” the ministry said in a statement.
Notable dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Eatala Rajender and TGSPDCL Chairman Musharraf Ali Faruqui, will attend the event. The project is expected to contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals and help reduce carbon emissions.
