New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi to launch Economic Times Energy Leadership Summit 2024, ET EnergyWorld


New Delhi: The Energy Leadership Summit 2024, the largest industry event from the house of The Economic Times, will kickstart on Wednesday, with Pralhad Joshi, the honourable Union Cabinet Minister of New and Renewable Energy and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, launching the Summit on Day 1, 25 September.

The opening session of the two day summit will be attended by the “who’s who” of the energy sector including Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE); S C L Das, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India; May-Elin Stener, Ambassador of Norway to India; and Freddy Svane, Ambassador of Denmark to India.

This will be followed by a Ministerial Address by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology; MoS (I/C), Ministry of Earth Sciences; MoS – Prime Minister’s Office; Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy; and Department of Space, Government of India.

The event is being organised by ETEnergyworld in partnership with Hartek, Gensol, Swelect, Envision, Hitachi Energy, Siemens, BrightNight and Pipeline Infrastructure Ltd (PIL), ExxonMobil and SunSource Energy, among others. It will host eight panel discussions apart from multiple individual addresses, fireside chats and presentations.

The first panel discussion of Day 1 will focus on “Global Energy Dynamics and Strategies for India’s Energy Independence by 2047”. It will host as speakers Pankaj Sharma, Additional Director – D&ES, Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC); R P Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, Solar Energy Corporation of India; Gauri Singh, Deputy Director General, IRENA; Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD, REC; Vartika Shukla, CMD, Engineers India; Pankaj Kumar, Director (Production), ONGC, Monte Dobson, CEO and Lead Country Manager, ExxonMobil India; and Venu Nuguri, MD & CEO – India & South Asia, Hitachi Energy.There will be a panel discussion on “Balancing Act: Oil and Gas in the Era of More Energy and Lower Emissions” where panelists include N Senthil Kumar, Director (Pipelines), IOC; Sanjay Kumar, Director (Marketing), GAIL India; Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, MD, Numaligarh Refinery; Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries), BPCL; Vinod Kumar Mishra, Director (Finance), Petronet LNG; K K Chatiwal, MD, Indraprastha Gas; and Manoj Pandey, Head (Business Development & Operations), Pipeline Infrastructure Ltd.

A third Panel Discussion on Technology, Policy and Finance for Indian Power Sector would witness participation from A K Rajput, Member (Power System), Central Electricity Authority; R K Tyagi, CMD, Power Grid Corporation; R K Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC; Arun Goyal, Former Member, CERC; Rajiv Ranjan Jha, Director (Projects), Power Finance Corporation; Guilherme de Mendonça, Head – Energy, Siemens Ltd; Tripta Thakur, Director General, NPTI; and Sanjeev Gupta, Director – Technical, Hartek Group.

There will also be a Panel Discussion on Renewables Energy on Day 1 which will host P K Das, CMD, IREDA; Amaranath Naranaiah, CEO, Karnataka Solar Power Development
Corporation; R K Vishnoi, CMD, THDC; Sarit Maheshwari, CEO, NTPC Renewable Energy; Simarpreet Singh, ED & CEO, Hartek Group; Inder Bhambra, Chief Business Officer, Envision Energy India; Naveen Khandelwal, CEO, BrightNight India; Deepak Ushadevi, MD, Ciel & Terre India; Manikkan Sangameswaran, ED & CEO, Radiance Renewables; Shobit Rai, MD & CEO, Prozeal Green Energy.

The first day of the event will also host a Fireside Chat with Simarpreet Singh, ED & CEO, Hartek Group, a Keynote Address by Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), another Fireside Chat with Puneet Jaggi, Whole-time Director, Gensol Engineering Ltd and Co-founder, Gensol Group, another Keynote Address by Chetan Singh Solanki, Professor, IIT Bombay and Founder, Energy Swaraj Foundation and Brand Ambassador of Solar Energy, Govt of Madhya Pradesh, and an eclusive Fireside Chat with Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Karnataka.

A key highlight of Day 1 will be the Award Ceremony of the Economic Times Energy Leadership Awards 2024. It will host a Knowledge Partner Address by Amit Kumar, Partner and Renewable Industry Leader, Grant Thornton Bharat and a Jury Chair Address by Anil Razdan, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power and Former Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Finally, the Awards Felicitation Ceremony will take place and honour the biggest performers of the energy sector.

The second day of the event will have special addresses by Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy; Arun Mahesh Babu, MD, Gujarat Power Corporation; Ayush Gupta, Director (Human Resources), GAIL (India), and Neha Verma, Director, Ministry of Steel; P K Pandey, MD, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation; and Suman Chandra, Director, MNRE.

Day 2 of the event will host a panel discussion on “Hydrogen Horizons: Shaping the Future Energy Matrix”. The speakers will include K R Jyothilal, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala; Umish Srivastva, Executive Director (AE & NEC), Indian Oil Corporation; Reji Mathai, Director, Automotive Research Association of India; R K Malhotra, President, Hydrogen Association of India & Member of the Empowered Group, National Green Hydrogen Mission; and Gauri Jauhar, Executive Director, Energy Transition Consulting, S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Another Panel Discussion on “Digital Future: Redefining Energy Systems, Infrastructure, and Enterprises” will witness participation from Jayant Gupta, ED (Information Systems), HPCL; Manish Grover, ED (Strategic IS & IS), Indian Oil; Saurav Kumar Shah, ED (RDSS), Power Finance Corporation; Surajit Banerjee, ED (Corp. Eng.), CISO & CRO, GRID-INDIA; and Anil Kumar Bohara, Head (System Operation, SCADA, DMS), BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd.

The event will also host a special Panel Discussion on “Latest Advances in Clean Energy: Strategies to meet Growing Energy Demand”. The speakers will include Vishal Kapoor, CEO, Energy Efficiency Services; Sanil C Namboodiripad, MD, ONGC Tripura Power Company; Veena Sinha, CEO, Railway Energy Management Company; Mani Khurana, Senior Energy Specialist, The World Bank; Shilpa Urhekar, CEO, Gensol Solar EPC; V C Raghunath, Director, Swelect Energy Systems; Rajeev Kumar, Head (Marketing), Indraprastha Gas; and Pankaj Verma, Senior Vice President, SunSource Energy.

The last panel discussion of the day will focus on “Paradigm Shifts in Energy Investments and Finance” where speakers would include Aalok Shah, Managing Director and Co-Head, Rothschild India; H V Harish, MD, ECube Investment Advisors; Chintan Shah, Group President and Global Head of Strategic Business Development & Policy Affairs, ReNew Power; and Pratyush Thakur, Investment Director & Country Head, Blueleaf Energy.
