Gandhinagar: Renewable energy companies, including both power generators and equipment manufacturers, have committed to invest a whopping Rs 32.45 lakh crore in India as part of the efforts to infuse fresh funding in the sector.
The commitments came at the ongoing REInvest event being organised by MNRE in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event today assuring investors of “better guaranteed returns” in the renewable energy industry.
The commitments include installation of fresh 569 GW capacity at a rate of Rs 5 crore per Mw leading to total investment of 28.45 lakh crore. Equipment manufacturing companies have committed to set up 338 GW solar module capacity leading to total investment of Rs 68,000 crore, and 239 GW solarncells capacity with an investment of Rs 1.55 lakh crore.
The event has also witnessed additional financial commitments from banks and financial institutions to the tune of $295 billion.
