New Delhi: NHPC Limited, India’s largest hydropower developer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Norwegian company Ocean Sun to explore cooperation on floating solar technology projects.
The MoU aims to implement Ocean Sun’s photovoltaic panels, mounted on hydro-elastic membranes, at various sites identified by NHPC, contributing to India’s renewable energy capacity.
The agreement furthers NHPC’s commitment to sustainable development and expands its renewable energy portfolio beyond hydropower to include solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects.
The MoU was signed on April 29 in a hybrid ceremony by NHPC’s Executive Director (Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen) V.R. Shrivastava, and Ocean Sun’s CEO Kristian Tørvold.
The signing was witnessed by key figures including the Ambassador of Norway to India May-Elin Stener, who joined from the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, and the Ambassador of India to Norway, Dr. Acquino Vimal, who joined from Oslo.
